Meet Our Staff

All of our staff are CPR/First Aid certified and many are also Epi-Pen trained every year.

Karen

Karen is a co-owner and director of Monroe Summer Day Camp. She worked in a neighboring school district for 17 years, raised two children, and now watches her grandchildren during the school year. Karen has always had a love for working with children, which led to the decision to open MSDC. She will be on site daily, handling most face to face interactions and making sure our camp day runs smoothly.

Abby

Abby is a counselor and assistant director of Monroe Summer Day Camp. Abby has been working with Karen and Krissy for over 10 years and has been at MSDC since it opened. She has a bachelor’s degree in early childhood and elementary education and is currently an integrated preschool teacher. Abby is passionate about teaching and loves working with children year round!

Jada

Jada is a recent graduate from the University of Rhode Island. She has been with MSDC for the past 2 summers and this will be her third year as a group counselor! Since high school, Jada has enjoyed working with children and has worked in many childcare settings. This fall, Jada will be pursuing her master's degree at Sacred Heart. 

Makenna

Makenna is a rising senior at Masuk High School, where she plays lacrosse. She has been a CIT previously at MSDC and last year was her first year as a counselor. She loved working with and having fun with the campers. She is so excited for her second year and for the summer to start. 

Nic

Nic is a junior at Quinnipiac University in the 4+1 MAT in Elementary Education. This is his second year as a gym counselor at MSDC. He can’t wait to see everyone and have an amazing summer of gym!

Kaitlyn

Kaitlyn just finished her second year at Coastal Carolina University in South Carolina, pursuing a major in sports media & journalism. She has danced for the past 15 years. Kaitlyn enjoys hanging out with her friends, playing with her dog Walter, going to the beach, and traveling. This will be her second summer at MSDC and she can’t wait to get the summer started!

Ella

Ella has worked at MSDC for the past two years as a CIT. She loves being a part of MSDC and it is her favorite part of the summer. Over the summer, she also cheers as an Allstar cheerleader and plays tennis! She loves traveling, swimming in the pool, and being outdoors! 

Christina

Christina is a rising sophomore at Xavier University, majoring in marketing. She is passionate about fashion, exercise, and traveling to new places. Christina has past experience with tutoring and babysitting children, as well as working with kids at Jane Ryan Elementary’s after school program. This will be her first year working as a camp counselor at MSDC and she can’t wait to meet all the campers!

Sarah

Sarah is a soon-to-be graduate of Oxford High School. She will be attending university in the fall, majoring in Political Science. This will be her third summer as an art camp counselor, and her first year with MSDC. Sarah has a passion for the arts (especially music and film!), and loves working with children of all ages. She can't wait to kick off the summer!

Krissy

Krissy is a co-owner and director of Monroe Summer Day Camp. She has a bachelor's degree in elementary education and a masters degree in early childhood special education. Krissy is currently a second grade teacher in a neighboring school district. She handles most of the administrative work, and will also be on site periodically throughout the summer.

Alyssa

Alyssa is a rising senior at Southern Connecticut State University, majoring in elementary education. She is also working at an after school program for elementary schools in a neighboring town. She enjoys her time with the kids; playing games and doing crafts! This will be her fourth summer with MSDC as a group counselor. This is also her third summer as lead counselor.  

Jonathan

Jonathan is so excited to be returning to MSDC for his third summer! He is a sophomore at the University of Connecticut and is studying financial management. Jonathan is so grateful to be a part of MSDC’s great staff and can’t wait to meet all the campers this summer!

Alana

Alana is an upcoming senior at Masuk High School, where she is on the school dance team. She has previously been a CIT and counselor at MSDC. Alana loves to spend time with the children and is so excited to work with them again this summer.

Hannah

Hannah recently graduated from Providence College with a degree in psychology and minor in sociology. This is Hannah’s second year working at MSDC as a group counselor. She has also worked with children at childcare centers and schools. She is so excited to be back and begin a great summer! 

Tyler

Tyler is a rising senior at Joel Barlow High School, where he plays the saxophone. This will be his first summer as a counselor, but he has been a CIT at MSDC for the past two summers. He can’t wait to have a fun summer with all the campers!

Riley

Riley is a rising senior at the University of Connecticut, studying to become an English teacher. She has had previous experience working at an after school program, babysitting, and substitute teaching. Additionally, she likes to exercise and read! This will be Riley’s first year as a counselor at MSDC and she is so excited to meet all of the campers and have an amazing summer!

Libby

Libby just finished her first year at George Washington University in DC, where she is studying neuroscience and public health on the pre-med track. She enjoys spending time with her friends and playing pickleball! Libby is passionate about working with kids, as she hopes to be a pediatrician in the future. This will be Libby’s first year at MSDC and she can’t wait for a great summer!
